Are mello pieces food safe?
No. Nothing we make is food safe. Jesmonite is a decorative material and our pigments and sealants are not certified for contact with food or drink. Trays, dishes and bowls are for keys, rings, jewellery and small treasures. Vases are for dried stems.
What is Jesmonite?
A water-based composite made from mineral powder and an acrylic resin. It casts like plaster, sets like stone, and is lighter than concrete. It is also free of the solvents used in polyester or epoxy resins.
Can I put water in a vase?
We would rather you did not. Jesmonite is sealed but not waterproof. Standing water can stain or soften the surface over time. Dried or faux stems only.
How do I clean a piece?
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it straight away. No soaking, no dishwasher, no abrasive cleaners. Keep it out of direct sun and away from oils and perfume, which can mark the surface.
Why does mine look different from the photo?
Every piece is poured by hand in small batches. Marbling, speckle and colour vary from one cast to the next, so yours is the only one exactly like it.
Is it fragile?
It is stone-like, so it will chip if dropped on a hard floor. Treat it like ceramic.
Where do you ship?
Across the UAE and the GCC. Orders are packed by hand in Dubai.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes, for colours and small runs. Write to us through the contact page.
